Getting A Surfer Body With Bodyweight Training
I have to be honest, you can get a surfer body with other forms of exercises, but bodyweight training in my book is crucial for building the ideal surfer body. Outside of looking great, surfers need to have a strong core, agility, muscle endurance, flexibility, and so on. The good news is that bodyweight training focuses on all of these. I remember when I met a surfer who was amazingly ripped in Mexico and all he did was surf and do bodyweight training and he was probably one of the fittest people I had ever met. This was back when I was against bodyweight training. You can read all about if you want over at Bodyweight Blast X.
The Main Component In Getting a Surfer Body
When you see a good surfer they are in great shape but also have a very strong core. When surfing you engage your core the entire time, especially when on the waves. Without a strong core, I highly doubt someone can be really good at surfing. I am no expert, heck I have only surfed a couple of times, but just from those few times I felt which muscles were engaged the most. You must strengthen your core doing functional exercises. I hate to contradict myself at times, but one of the absolute best ways to get a rock solid core is by doing this workout which incorporates dumbbells. There are ways only using bodyweight training like hanging leg raises and planks that do a fantastic job as well.
